This platform is intended as a resource for scholars, students, and community members interested in Global South Studies. Keyword essays and Conversations can easily be included in undergraduate and graduate courses. 

The form of the keyword essay is also a useful pedagogical assignment, particularly for graduate students. GSS directors and colleagues have assigned keyword essays in their graduate seminars as mid-term projects. This exercise helps students consider how to frame their own research through articulating and understanding concepts that are both foundational to Global South Studies and relevant to other fields. Ideally, these critical definitions could easily be integrated into the literature reviews of students’ dissertations and other publications.

We welcome and encourage your graduate students to submit their keyword essays for potential publication in Global South Studies. Please note that not all submitted entries will be accepted for publication and those accepted will be asked to revise their submissions.
